The primary objectives of the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE) are to develop, nurture, and support a cadre of clinical and translational scientists by building on the University of Pittsburgh's existing clinical research training programs to establish a comprehensive program with activities ranging from early research exposure for high school students to programs for faculty.

Program Objectives and Participants

The Individualized Medical Education Training (iMET) Program is an individualized program designed to teach fundamental skills of medical education to clinical educators.

The program is offered by the Institute for Clinical Research Education (ICRE). The primary objectives of the ICRE are to develop, nurture, and support a cadre of clinical and translational scientists by building on the University of Pittsburgh's existing clinical research training programs to establish a comprehensive program with activities ranging from early research exposure for high school students to programs for faculty.

iMET versus Other Programs Offered by the ICRE

iMET is not part of a degree program, and University credit is not awarded for iMET. The aim of the program is to provide high-quality instruction to medical professionals who are interested in gaining a better understanding of medical education or who strive to be better clinician educators.

For physicians who are interested in becoming leaders in medical education, the ICRE offers several programs through the University of Pittsburgh that entail more extensive formal training in medical education, including certificate and master of science programs.
